Lyrical breakdown of my song "There's a new star coming." (C) 2017, 2020

September 23, 2017 the stars aligned in a particular way. It made reference to a biblical prophecy. Specifically, the first two verses of Revelation 12Wiki article about it The passage in the Book of Revelation 12:1-3 describes "a woman clothed with sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth." (NIV).[2]

Thus, I was inspired to write, "There's A New Star Coming." I performed it at SynergyNights Openmic at The Med in Ridgeland Mississippi.

When I write a piece like this I prefer to have meaning and depth. I like to create universal hooks (things everyone can relate). Performance link]

In the following sentences I address some thoughts behind the lines of this piece.

Is this the end? Once I heard someone say, 'One day I stopped running from hell. But hell kept going.'

Many thought I was talking about myself when I so explicitly stated, "There's a new star coming."

Is the end of it all seen as more coincidental because we are so focused on our own lives that we just ignore signs?

Is it logical to deduce that if the masses believe things with so much passion that they make things real?

"Gonnah be boos and cheers. People running from themselves. People running from their fears."

Are people so easily manipulated to escape their lives and find meanings in causes?

There is a theory that there are people hired by organizations that cause disruption in the American society.

Who are our heroes? The ones we get behind?

"There's a storm coming. Gonnah take everything we own away. Just to show us who we really are. Some of us looking outside others looking with in. Some counting their blessings, others counting their sins."

I was originally referencing my experience being in Hurricane Katrina. As I added more I began to realize I was referencing difficult times we face in life.

What is this chaos? Is it the chaos we bring into our lives? It is said that we are too materialistic

"New star coming for all to see. Some of us going to be trapped, others gonna be set free."

In a new world, We have so many rights for everyone, we have such freedoms that it becomes our mental, emotional, and spiritual prison.
