She responds to h ‘All Your XXX Fantasies Are Here.’ This place smells of semen, sweat and mildew. Has ten booths where the customers deposit quarters to watch fifteen minutes of a large high definition screen shows ladies taking off their clothes. In two hours time most of them spend about a hundred dollars. The money in the slot accepts quarters, one dollar, five dollar, ten dollar, and twenty dollar bills. About a decade ago there used to be real women for the peep

Something changed when I went to Nashville (ode to Johnny Cash) What if I played even a hundred openmics a year? With links

After I saw in the Johnny Cash museum that he toured 300 days a year, (see photo above), I thought to myself, "How good would I be if I played live 300 days a year?" Of course, I can't because I choose the safety net of being employed. Then I thought with honestly, "I do openmics. Well I am consistent about doing spoken word twice a month at SynergyNights-that's 24 times a year. And when on vacation from teaching I play 28 times a year doing songs with guitar. Then I bitch and whine when openmic host and crowd puts down my sound/ I am going in there with people who have been playing for years and have done live gigs hundreds/ thousands of times." I took note when I was at Nashville openmics. None were from Mississippi at the #BlueBirdCafe click here to see my performance at world famous Blue Bird Cafe and #TheCommodore. click here to see performance at The Commodore Also I noted the openmics I have frequented back home. Few have traveled like I have.

Killing the dead (zombies aka walkers) with my guitar playing...

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Souls (click here  ) Excerpt: 2015: "Come on dude. Why you gonna give me your monkey business?" "There's too many real, uh I mean..." I gave him the evil eye. "I'll let you up there soon." He knew I'd wait. Picked up my acoustic guitar, that I got on the side of the street of a destroyed house-courtesy of Hurricane Katrina, I went outside to practice. I use my Kramer electric guitar to play on stage. "With darkness descending the freaks came out. They come out at night," I mumbled. I was amused how the street lights shined on the  people causing them to look like they had pale skin; like zombies. I think I've had too much coffee and am having an acid flashback. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________### After many minutes of practicing, I go back inside and see more of them. I notice their clothes are very ragged. I ignored t

Last to perform open mic #GroundZeroBluesClub #ClarksdaleMississippi because I suck so bad that even zombies hate the way I play guitar

I suck so bad that even zombies hate the way I play guitar.  “I am so ready,” type of thoughts were in my mind. My will was fed by theme songs (mixture of Metal and Country music cds) for about four hours from Nashville . I did my thing (spoken word with blues guitar slide) Surely, I’ll rock em tonight in Clarksdale Mississippi at the world famous #GroundZeroBluesClub. click here to read about Ground Zero Blues Club Crossed over to that 2 nd street took the winding road to 61 Thought I’d do the “Going To All The Wrong Places…” There will be an older crowd there. I’m ready, I can hit those strings (with my left hand) and got the stroke (with my right hand) without looking at the guitar. With lyrical hooks like looking for a wife at the strip club, using a casino as a home and bank, and the chorus “Hows that working out for ya’ Not to good but it sure was fun. Cuzz going to all the wrong places for the right thing sure is fun”- Click here to check out my Nashville Performan

#BlueBirdCafe Nashville Tennessee "If you can't rock any crowd. You just suck." (Chasing The devil with God chasing me on this trail. Part 1)

“Chasing Down The Devil With God Chasing Me On this Trail” lyrical piece was born one evening at SynergyNights many weeks prior. I was in a bit of a depression. The night’s performers started off with kinky and lewd rhymes, also there were protest rhymes. Then around 10:15 pm the atmosphere changed with highly spiritual themes. Even a couple preacher’s rocked the mic and I thought to myself, “God is making him/herself present to me always reminding me there is an easier way. Always reminding me to keep pressing on and let go of resentments, anger, fear and the other seven deadly sins that I tend to act out on that get me in such trouble. Like “…all the lies I tell myself that are is the distance between me and you.”-this rhyme I created is universal in its creed. Lies such as stereotypes, and creating reasons why people do the things they do-they do these things to harm me. The examples are infinite as time itself. The easy way, so they say, is to make a deal with the devil.

Damn they called my number for a second song. I can't do "The Gun Show" because there is a police officer from Dallas. click here for link Watch video for GUN SHOW HERE I decide to use a song that I thought of when I left the Jackson Live contest in November 2015. Rain was falling hard on my windshield when I was driving from that contest in downtown Jackson click here to hear song I performed in contest . I thought to myself "Everything Falls Like Rain." When it rains I feel like my good friend Charles  click here to hear his music  is with me. Charles died two years ago. Charles used to challenge me by telling me I'd never do things. To spite him I put forth more effort. One line I used many years ago, "I got cracks in the floor where I pray" and a line from #BobDylan's "Highway 61 Revisited" click here to hear Dylan's song , "I got a hundred phones that never ring" created the song. Most of the crowd are their to watch. There were only twenty five of us chosen. Had to call a number between 12 and 1 pm. Took me twenty minutes to get the reservation to play open mic. 21 was my number. At the table there was a sixteen year old girl with her mother, they were from Canada. The girl's song was awesome. Also sitting with us was a family from Dallas, they were there to watch. The father is a police officer. He had been friends with the policemen killed. ...these gals and guys are good. I am outclassed. Gonnah make a fool of myself. I think the riff to "Hit That Road" is good.  Hit that Road SynergyNights  Original riff from  Me and Robin Lane There's hardly any room to walk. These acts are stellar. Kind of acts you'd see on mainstream tv and internet mp3s. They came from all over. A few of the acts were there from the UK-they sounded more American than some of the Country singers. Then there's me sounding like spoken word over acoustic slid

Saturday night I was performing my words at #SynergyNights at #TheMed in Jackson MS, the crowd was 300 blacks. I could be as raunchy as I wanted at SynergyNights. Hundreds of miles later, on a Monday night I'm at #TheBlueBirdCafe, the crowds about 300 whites all ages. I had the perfect joint in mind "Going to all the Wrong Places For The Right Things." The riffs are solid after performing it all Summer. "We have all ages in here tonight. Please keep that in mind. If you can't explain it to a child then you shouldn't do it," the host announced. "Damn it There goes that song. Now I have to do another one. There's no way I can talk about men using casinos as their home and banks, or using a bar tender as a therapist," I thought to myself. So I chose "Hit That Road"-a riff I picked up jamming with Robin Lane at The King Biscuit Festival last year. The words I connected with it at I had created at #SynergyNights. Many of the

During that first year of being clean and sober you get super horny and want to use. It does pass. The wanting drugs/alcohol part does. I wrote a book during that year THE ADVENTURES OF DON DIPUTS-free ebook July 1-5, 2016

Also you really want to drink and do drugs. It does pass.  The wanting drugs/alcohol part does. Throughout the book there are songs that I loved, still do, and new songs I discovered. Some say they can't listen to music they used to listen to. I personally did. Therefor, It is very possible. This book has Stripper Vampires, and much drug and alcohol abuse. Hallucinogenic overdose (Warning GRAPHIC CONTENT) excerpt from A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Souls (C) 2016

Vlad’s seizure lasts for five minutes, which seems like an eternity to Joshua and his friends. They stand there helpless while Vlad flops and twitches like a fish taken out of water. Finally, Vlad comes to and opens his eyes. He looks up from where he is lying on the floor. He sees the faces of his friends looking down at him in concern. “We thought you were going to be deceased. You scared the fuck out of us” Boris says. Joshua lends Vlad a hand and helps him to his feet. “We were going to put you in your car and leave you in the parking lot at Walmart if you croaked” Timothy says and starts laughing. No one else finds his joke very funny. The circle of friends start sawing off chunks of steak, shoveling it into their mouths. All eyes are rapt on the movie that is playing on the television. Tombstone is still playing. It has reached the part where Doc Holiday is at the piano, drunk, playing a rendition of Chopin’s nocturne. Everyone recites the line that inevitably comes. “It

true life that inspired writing My Megalomania At Midnight

My Megalomania at Midnight afterwards Afterward-2dec 2006 2:30am done with the first editing process.             Many many weeks ago if you would have typed my name, Honea Byrne, on your internet Google image bar it would have taken you to a graveyard’s tombstone of some distant relatives of mine. Rising from the proverbial ‘dead’ in all appropriateness is a chief mantra of the story. How appropriate it was; for we on and from the Coast will forever be changed.  Even more so, appropriate due to the fact that the story started off loosely based on Chuck and I taking pics from town. One of the scenes was indeed from a graveyard located on 28 th street in Long Beach .             I started this story in May 2005 with real scenarios and loosely based ones; they were my hangout spots. Most of which would, unknown to my conscious mind, not be the same at the ending of writing the story. In particularly, there’s the billiard hall Jim Bob’s . That opene
