A Stamp to mail my mind away “Don’t worry, I’ll pay you back when it happens.” Chapter 4 (c) 2022

4                                      “Don’t worry, I’ll pay you back when it happens.” That was the line that was supposed to convince his father to give him money. Of course, he thought not to ask him for the whole thousand dollars. He was also taking note of those who didn’t help him ‘before it happened.’ Yea he wouldn’t show them any love ‘when it happened.’   “You still looking for a job?” His father asked. The father already knew the answer. He had spoken with his boy’s mother, aka his third divorce.   “Oh yea, I have been looking everywhere. Had an interview at The Anderson Law Firm. The father listened to more and more of his lies. The son did feel guilty for telling him lies. Some of that guilt went away after he told himself, “I’ll pay him back even more when it happens.”   “I’m going to need some nice clothes.” Thus ended the three-minute conversation   “Is that what you meant by the ‘When it happens?’”   “Of course.” “Well

3 He was trying so hard to act like Peter hugging his girlfriend didn’t bother him.   “There’s some food up here, if ya’ll hungry!” Jude shouted from the porch. “Great, I’m very famished,” he said. Peter set her down, being sure to set her by his side, “Good to see you again, uh. Uh, uh. Uh?” Then Peter lunged forward as if he were trying to kiss him. “My name is Fred,” the boyfriend replied as he turned away to avoid the kiss, to no avail. “Right. Right. I love this guy.” Then they all walked upstairs.   There was a large table between two couches, on the front porch. The table had carved horse hooves at the end of its legs. The table was mahogany. Had an engraving on the other side of the table that read “Donated by loving musicians.”   Jude brought out three large pizzas from the kitchen. “Anybody here? Sam said as he knocked on the front door. Sam brought with him his wife’s children, Barry and Mammie. It was part of the deal he had to make with his

Chapter 2: Expectations (c) from "A Stamp to Mail My mind away"

    2. Expectations       He thought, “I thought that things would be different. I earned my Associates degree from Gulf Coast Community College. Muliti temps was hiring my friends to do substitute teaching. Surely, they would hire me. I had been working with Multi-temps to do manual labor. Surely they would hire me to be a substitute teacher.”   He’d go over to his friend, Lil D., house. Lil D. had a great spread. It was a private extension of his parent’s house. It was walking distance from the beach, and Walgreens. “In walking distance to get new needles.” His parents lived down-stairs.   Down-stairs there was a kitchen, sunroom, dining room, den, laundry room, and three bedrooms. D’s father made a fortune building houses along the bayou. Word spread fast to all his parent’s friends, and friends of friends. Many days his parents would hold big parties-that’s where his father would sell ‘A piece of the good life’ to them.   Upstairs, D had a huge bedroom, a game roo

The debauchery started with cases of imported beer; because, “I’m not an alcoholic if I’m drinking the good stuff,” he reasoned and often said trying to justify, trying to sound amusing. They had enough weed to keep them high.  He also had a ten strip of LSD “To open their minds,”. There was a picture of a purple skull on each hit. The townhouse he rented was featured in by Gulf Coast magazines. The townhouse was also in a couple famous movies a long time ago. There were rumors that famous musicians would hang out there before it was renovated.  There were pieces of furniture that were from before the time of renovation. The musicians hanging there is what made the house so attractive to Peter. “It’s no coincidence that there’s this room in the middle connecting all rooms. It’s like how a pentagram shape is in Washington D.C."  “You need to stop or at least slowdown,” Jude interrupted Peter. He had been around Peter long enough to know that he needed to pace himself. “You bett
