100 Love Letters I'll Never Send (Family Matters part I) (c) 2017

"So when do we get to meet your new girl friend?"
"Never," i mumble incoherently into the phone, sounding more like a grown.
"What?" My sister asked.
I've always had a fear of bringing any girlfriends over to meet my family. Haven't talked to any relatives in months. They live about three hours away. I always thought that if any girlfriend of mine met my family it would totally be a deal breaker.
"Who's that babe," Carmelita says excited.
"It's just my sis..." Carmelita takes the phone out of my hands.
"Oh great, uh huh," She giggles I leave the room fearing the worse.
"Okay we'll see ya'll next Thursday."Carmelita hangs up the phone.
"Girl I don't even know if I'll have off for Thanksgiving."
"Of course you will. You work for those types of places."
I was suspicious. Carmelita seemed too eager to meet my family.

Couple hours later, Couples In Recovery AA meeting.
"My mother asked my husband if he would take care of me and I told her that we will teach one another as a team..." On and on she shared with so much passion it seemed so insincere. She wanted us to clap or something to build up her ego. Evident by the frown she had when everyone was silent for many seconds that had such a destructive silence that it seemed like minutes.

"My name is Margaret would anyone else like to share?"
"My name is Carmelita. I realize that getting to know your partner you need to be supportive in all of their life. And their family is such a great part of that..." she held my hand tighter I noticed the couple that got into such a huge argument the week before click here to recap, looked at one another stared at each other. Carmelita going on and on made me suspicious. I just ignored the suspicion because when you're in love your so insecure.

Over the next three days. My mom, and sister called over and over again. Carmelita was all too kind. My sister told her that she missed my mother's birthday.

On the Tuesday before Thanks giving. I got my first paycheck for $1500. dollars. I put the cash in the center console of my car. I went inside a store to get us some cigarettes. Came back, "Babe I need to get your mother something for her birthday."

"Oh yea. Right on." I start to take some cash out of the center console,"No that's okay I got some money." She pauses, "From my parents."

I take her to the mall she gets my mother a hundred dollar necklace. Later on that day, I notice a hundred dollars missing from my console.
