Meet Henry Howard Helms. Before arriving at The House Of Bachuss, he had done every job he could with no luck of ever seeing any progress. He saw the add in the paper that read, “Call us if you have any interest in working in a place that appreciates you.”

His woman was very supportive, “Just keep at it honey. Something will turn up. If all else fails you can always work…”
“...with your father, Dale, on the construction site,” he completed her sentence. Yet that simply would not do. He wanted to prove to her, her father, and her mother that he could earn his own way. Every time they went to visit them her father always put him down in those passive aggressive phrases like, “I bet you really are doing well at supporting her.”
The job cleaning up the Superdome, assigned to him by the  temporary job agency The Daily Agenda, had ended. It would be about a week before he’d get another temp job.
He got home early before his woman, she was a secretary at her father’s construction company. He looked in the WANT ADS “Call us if you have any interest in working in a place that appreciates you.” He looked at the number. Then had a bad feeling about dialing it.
Next day he went around town desperately searching for a permanent job. Preferably, something where his college degree credentials could be put to use.
“Okay, so tell me about yourself. “
He had been through this so many times.
The interviewer was surrounded by a committee of others.
He thought he was doing good until, “So why did temp job service? Are you not dependable?”
He was shocked and offended to be asked such a question. He answered as best as his emotions would allow him. “Yes sir, I am.” Yet he didn’t know what to say after that.
“Well have a good day Mr. Helms.” They walked him out.
Next was the manager position at the local Pizza Restaurant. He was overqualified with his college degrees. He went anyway.
“We do have starter positions as a dishwasher.” His anger was building. He started thinking about attacking the interviewer. Force his head to get burned in the oven. Once he was in his car, he quickly popped in his crazy pill.
After that it was working at a movie theater. The interviewer was a nineteen year old manager. “So what do you know about watching movies?” he was asked.
And on and on it went all day. He came back home to his girl friend.
“Honey don’t give up. Something will turn up. And if it doesn’t. You can always work for my dad..” . For a split second he could see himself over her with his hand raised gripping a knife.
“Yea thanks.” He sighed aggravated as he looked for the countless time at the want adds. And highlighted. Much to his dismay, he had already gone to twenty five of the listings.
Yet, not the one in the center, “For a rewarding career where we accept you for being you.” It is like it is there for him. At times when he was overwhelmed with stress he tended to have violent thoughts. It was worse when he didn’t take his medication. He always feared the fantasies turning into reality again. It had happened once. He knew he’d enjoy doing wrong.

That night he thought about it more and more.
“Someone could appreciate me for what I’m worth. Maybe this is a sign from God. That’s why I’m getting nervous. I haven’t worked in a place where I can use the skills I spent thousands of dollars on,”’ he thought on and on. He dialed the number at 9 pm. Quickly hung up the phone.

At 2 am his phone rang. He noted how strange it was to get a call that late, and that his woman didn’t hear it.
"Are you interested in coming in for a once in a lifetime opportunity. " It was the same number he dialed earlier.
