"We all inherit The Darkness." Excerpt From Going Educational part II" (C) 2016

Some things came out of the graveyard once the darkness blanketed us all. All of the crime, all of the drug use, and other destructive things gave the dead reasons to make what was wrong right again.

What is happening: Carlton's infected computer  becomes his guide through a city that has had a black out. While he is visiting the grave of his friend the town goes into a black out. The spirits from the graveyards roam the streets seeking to take their town back through their own sort of justice.

"Didn't know where to live after I was finally released from Whitmore. Chose to live by the hugest graveyard I could find in Jackson Mississippi. Felt I'd be safe. Maybe it's being safe from things that I couldn't let go of that came out during therapy."

"My sweet satan." I wake up to my laptop speakers. I look at the screen. There's a diagram of a creature. The phrase "You Are Here." flashes across the screen. Then I realize I am in this creature's brain.

I go to the Chinese restaurant that Cassandra and I used to eat at. Upon finishing my meal I open the fortune cookie that reads, "Before you can see the light you have to deal with the darkness." I put that fortune in my pocket. I go pay for the meal. For some reason that same episode of the Twilight Zone is on. Damn I want a cigarette. Instead, I take the anti-smoking pill.

I am at the graveyard looking for Cassandra's tomb. After many minutes, I finally find it by way of moonlight. At first I see her name. Then her name fades away and mine appears on the grave. Then the street lights go out. Cars on the highway come to a stand still. Dark clouds blanket the moon.

"We all inherit The Darkness."

He just wouldn't let go. Wanted to stay in this life just a little bit longer. Even if the words were lost in the wind; like a cliché passed from person to person. What does it look like to make a bargain? In those last moments all you can think of is the aftermath of certain things done ritualistically.

We used to believe. Now it's labeled lunacy.

Some things came out of the graveyard once the darkness blanketed us all. All of the crime, all of the drug use, and other destructive things gave the dead reasons to make what was wrong right again.

It was a drug deal gone bad. He bought the drug at the time of the black out. Two youths attacked him. Then it got silent. "What?" The drug dealer tried to use his cell phone that wouldn't work. Then he took out a cigarette lighter so he could see the insides of the room. There were only three now (the dealer, his friend, and the kid who bought the drug).
"Where'd everyone go?" From the darkness a shadow being pulled him in. He disappeared, "What is going on?" The shadow being pulled the dealer into the darkness. The kid grabbed the lighter. He started sobbing and prayed to his God to save him. The clouds that were over the moon slid passed. The Night's Eye beaming its rays in our world.

He saw everyone roaming the streets dazed and confused. He looks across the street at the graveyard. Saw black mist rising from the graves. Then he saw shadows getting into the people on the streets. Why was he the only one to see this? He wonders the streets chasing where ever he saw light. He walked further and candles began to be seen in windows. He saw flashlights. Took him half of a pack of cigarettes to make it to, torches lit on poles, city hall. The mayor was trying to assure everyone to stay calm. Telling us how the police would be walking the streets. Told us about the different places to go where we could get what we needed. Gave us four hours to do so. "...no cars work, no cell phones work, and no televisions work. We don't even have internet," I heard someone talking behind me. I heard someone else saying that this was an electro magnetic pulse.
